These benches and table are super easy to make! All one needs is wood glue, wood, and a hand miter saw.
To make this set you’ll need some red oak wood that is 1/4″ thick, and some red oak 1/2″ square dowels. Lowe’s and Home Depot sells wood this thin, and also sells slabs of wood in the width that is needed for the benches and table.
The benches are made from a piece of red oak that is 1/4″ thick, by 8 inches long by 1 1/2″ wide. They also have 4 legs made from 1 inch pieces cut from the 1/2″ square dowel.
To make the benches, simply glue the square pieces on the slabs, exactly 1/2′ from the edge of the bench on the narrow side, and right on the edge of the longer 8 inches sides.
Let the glue dry, and your bench is completed! Wasn’t that easy?!
To make the table, you will need one 1/4″ thick piece of red oak that measures 8 inches long by 3 1/2″ wide. You’ll also need 2 pieces of red oak that is 1/4″ thick, that measures 2″ by 1 1/2″ wide and 2 pieces from the 1/2″ square dowel that is 3 1/2″ long each.
First glue the square dowels exactly 1/2″ from the ends of the table top (the bigger piece of wood that is 8 by 3 1/2″).
Let these dry, then glue the other two piece of wood against the dowel one the inside of the table, being sure to glue the shorter side (1 1/2″) to the top of the table.
Here’s how the underside of the table should look once all pieces have been assembled and glued in place.
Let the glue dry completely, and your table and benches are now ready for your Hitty’s to enjoy!
